Everywhere you look, it’s beginning to look like Halloween. Costumes and candy for sale. Spooky decorations on display. Kids of all ages like to celebrate Halloween. Thanks to some local theme parks, the party starts in late September and lasts all through October. Disneyland, LEGOLAND, and Sea World all offer special events that offer family-friendly Halloween fun that have more treats than tricks. Here’s a round-up of the 2015 Halloween festivities – Trick-or-Treating Theme Park Style:
Disneyland Resort – Anaheim, CA
During the day, Halloween Time has come to the Disneyland Resort. Both parks are decorated in harvest colors and pumpkins of all sizes are everywhere on Main Street. There are special foods, collectible popcorn/beverage containers, and beverages throughout the resort that are fall favorites. Some of the rides have Halloween overlays – Jack Skellington has taken over the Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain is now Ghost Galaxy. At night, there’s a special Halloween Tree in Frontierland that is especially bewitching.
Special photo opportunities at Disneyland include: Grim Grinning Ghosts photo spot outside Haunted Mansion Holiday, Dia de Los Muertos area in Frontierland, and giant Mickey Jack-o-Lantern on Main Street. If you’re taking pictures using a PhotoPass Photographer, be sure to ask what “Magic Shots” they are able to take – some of these are seasonal including some for Halloween.
If you’re looking for a special party that is family-friendly, be sure to check out “Mickey’s Halloween Party”. Offered on select nights – with many already sold out – this party is a good way to visit Disneyland at Halloween Time and save some money on admission. Mickey’s Halloween Party starts around 7:00 p.m. and requires a separate ticket from the general admission. During the party, there are trick-or-treat paths, special photo spots with characters, festive music, dance party areas, and an exclusive fireworks show. Costumes are encouraged and party guests are able to enter Disneyland a couple of hours before the start of the party. Check the Disneyland official website for theme park hours to know when the park will close early on party nights.
LEGOLAND “Brick-or-Treat Party Nights” – San Diego, CA
Another family-friendly Halloween party option is attending one of the five Brick-or-Treat Party Nights from 5 – 9 p.m. They’re held on October 3, 10, 17, 24, and 30 in 2015. This party is geared for families with children (and grandchildren) ages 2 – 12 and definitely has more treats than tricks. Costumes are encouraged and space is limited, so be sure to get your tickets in advance. Back by popular demand are themed costume contests, the Boo Crew, dance party locations, costumed character appearances, and Ghost Cruise Scavenger Hunt. There are also themed treat stations throughout LEGOLAND plus two treat stations at SEA LIFE Aquarium. Of course, be sure to sample some Apple Fries! If you are a LEGOLAND Premium/Ambassador Member, the Brick-or-Treat Party admission is included with your membership. If you are a LEGOLAND California/Standard Member, discount party admission tickets are available. If you aren’t a member, check out some special offers when you buy your tickets online.
Sea World’s Halloween Spooktacular – San Diego, CA
Rounding out the family-friendly fun is Sea World’s Halloween Spooktacular – offering “endless waves of Halloween Fun” on weekends from Sept. 26 – Nov. 1, 2015. Sea World will have more treats than tricks starting at 11:00 a.m. with animal encounters, character photo opportunities, dancing, and trick-or-treating. There are also all-new Halloween themed Sea Lion and Sesame Street shows. For information about park hours during the Halloween Spooktacular, visit the official Sea World website.
