Mission Bay in San Diego attracts visitors from far and near year-round. Sea World San Diego sits on the edge of Mission Bay Park and features an oceanarium, outside aquariums, and marine mammals. In the summertime, Sea World transforms into a dazzling destination when the sun goes down. Summer nights at Sea World San Diego are a perfect time to experience Electric Ocean, which is happening on select dates from June 15 to September 2, 2019. The park stays open late and there are experiences for all ages. Let’s take a closer look.

Atlantis Ignites at Sea World San Diego

The Journey to Atlantis is Sea World’s water coaster and was recently refurbished. During Electric Ocean, Atlantis ignites with lights and dynamic 100’ projections. At select times throughout the evening, guests experience a thrilling undersea adventure in this newly reimagined show.

Manta (recharged)

New special effects, colorful lighting, and pulsing music transform Manta, the park’s double-launch roller coaster.

Sea of Life

Displays of gigantic schools of fish dazzle and glimmer during the day, then illuminate at night with lights synchronized to music.

School of Glow

Be immersed in color and light as waves of fist and bubbles dance to high-energy music.

Club Current

Put on your dancing shoes and join in the fun at the interactive dance floor featuring a world-class DJ spinning the hits.

Cirque Electrique

The must-see show of Sea World’s Electric Ocean is Cirque Electrique. This electrifying show features riveting acrobatic performances, dazzling costumes, entertaining jesters, and mind-blowing stunts at Bayside Amphitheater. The nighttime performances include a cast of amazing aquatic acrobats and USBA world freestyle jet ski champion Mark Gomez.

This show is very popular, so be sure to either line up in advance of the performances. Or consider upgrading your visit with reserved seating at an additional cost per person. If you decide to attend the first show, the amphitheater will most likely reach capacity before showtime. The second show of the evening may not fill up as quickly since many folks who have been at Sea World all day begin leaving.

Watching Cirque Electrique is now an annual tradition for our family. In 2017 we watched this incredible performance twice and in 2018 we splurged on the reserved seating. In 2019, we plan on seeing this show at least once. Our favorite parts are the clowns/jesters in the opening act, the island acrobat set, the hydroflight tricks, and the freestyle jet ski stunts. If you want a sneak peek at the talented aquatic acrobats, check out this behind the scenes video.
