BUBBLES!

Bubblefest 2016 @ Discovery Cube (Santa Ana, CA)

What is it about bubbles that invokes happiness? Is it the way bubbles remind us of carefree days? Is it how bubbles are uplifting as they float up in the sky? Or is it how bubbles reflect colorful rainbows when the light touches them just so? As one quote I found on the internet says: “There is no angry way to say bubbles.”

Let’s face it, there is just something fascinating about bubbles. Children delight in them – blowing bubbles, chasing bubbles, catching & popping bubbles. Even big kids turn into little kids when bubbles float by. Regardless of your age, bubbles are fun! The Discovery Cube in Santa Ana (Orange County), California has joined in this fun and once again will bring us the science of bubbles by hosting Bubblefest from March 26 – April 10, 2016.

Celebrating its 20th year, for a brief time each spring, Bubblefest is a special exhibit at the Discovery Cube which celebrates all thing bubbles. What can you expect when you visit Bubblefest? The highlight of this event is the Mega Bubblefest Laser Show featuring Deni Yang. Mr. Yang is a world renowned bubble artist and a Guinness World Record Holder (Most People in a Bubble). In addition to the show, be sure to check out the Bubble Courtyard, Bubble Zone, Cube Jr. Playground, and Water Spheres.

Another entertaining part of Bubblefest is the opportunity to be put inside a bubble. The “Me In a Bubble” station is a photo opportunity (for an additional charge) which is exactly as it sounds – you (and your family) can be put inside a gigantic bubble and it will be captured in a keepsake photo.

Other activities at Bubblefest that are included in the Bubblefest special event admission price are Bubble Lab, Bubble Wall, CO2 Chambers, and Laser Tables. Since you have to buy general admission tickets to the Discovery Cube in addition to the special event, your Bubblefest admission ticket also includes visiting the regular exhibits of the Discovery Cube (formerly known as the Discovery Science Center) and any other special exhibits which may be there at the same time as Bubblefest.

We went to Bubblefest in 2012 and saw the Mega Bubblefest Laser Show – it was amazing! For 2016, the Discovery Cube’s website says there will be only 4 shows daily and seats are limited. Tickets will sell out so you are encouraged to purchase your tickets online to guarantee your seat and enjoy the special pre-order discount.

If you are in the Orange County area of California during the time when Bubblefest is happening, I encourage you to attend this fascinating and entertaining event. More information (hours, directions, accessibility, etc.) can be found by visiting the Discovery Cube official website.
