Celebrating 8 Years of Exploring, Imagining, and Creating

When I decided to start a blog, I wanted to publish the inaugural post on May 10, 2015, since it was a cool pattern – 5/10/15. Since then, I’ve enjoyed researching, photographing, and writing every post and sharing them with you. This blog is a creative outlet for me, and I balance it with my full-time job. I do not post as often as I would like and am working on getting back to a more regular writing routine.

At first, my blog focused on exploring, imagining, and creating in southern California. Theme parks, San Diego, and other treasures of California. Then, we discovered Route 66 adventures in 2017 and those road trips were added to the mix of what I write about. Then in 2022, we moved to northern Arizona and destinations around Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon became part of the “backyard tourist” experience I share.

Whether you have been following this blog since the beginning, or if you recently discovered this site – thank you for coming along on my adventures. My hope is that you find the information and stories interesting and that they inspire you to get out there to explore the world around you. There is something to be said for being a backyard tourist!

My personal motto is: Eat the cake, buy the shoes, and take the trip. I am heading to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon this weekend for some future posts – look for them soon! Until then, may ladybugs bless your journey.
