It’s been a while since I’ve published an official post and today is a special day in this blog’s history. Seven years ago, May 5, 2010, was the launch of LadyBugBlog and I’ve shared many adventures with all of you so far. My original focus for this blog was to share our travels to theme parks and other opportunities to explore, imagine, and create.

FIRST FIVE YEARS (2015 – 2020)

When I started this blog, we lived in San Diego and visited theme parks like Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Legoland, and Sea World on a very regular basis. Four years ago, we discovered Route 66 road trips, and these were added to my travel/blog topics. About three years ago, I rebranded the blog’s name from LadyBug Blog to Krista’s LadyBug Adventures to better reflect the blog’s focus and direction.

THE WORLD PAUSED (2020 – 2022)

Then for two plus years during the pandemic, theme parks closed, and travel stopped for many. To save our sanity during California’s lockdown, we continued to explore and tried to get out as often as possible. In late 2020, we decided to purchase property in northern Arizona and had a new home built. This was going to be a second/future retirement home for a few years when we closed in late May 2021. As we started spending more time in the Flagstaff area, it became more and more challenging to come back to San Diego and witnessing the area’s downward spiral.

During 2021, the nature of the work of my day job shifted and left little time for me to write and publish blog posts. We started to explore moving to Arizona full-time and I started to look for work in northern Arizona. The beginning of 2022 brought a new full-time job in Arizona and a move to our home in the Flagstaff area.

CELEBRATING SEVEN YEARS!

Now that we’re getting settled into our new home and I’m coming up to speed at my new day job, it’s time to turn my attention back to Krista’s LadyBug Adventures! The blog’s focus continues to be on travel and exploring. However, there may be fewer theme park trips and more road trips on Route 66.

“I’m looking forward to the future, and feeling grateful for the past.”

Mike Rowe

If you had told me a few years ago that we would move out of California and call another state home, I would not have believed you. Yet change can be a good thing and we’re looking forward to exploring northern Arizona, going on more adventures, and creating memories in our new home state.

LOOKING FORWARD

So, what’s in store for Krista’s LadyBug Adventures? I’m working on a series of blog posts that will share about some of the places we’ve explored so far in northern Arizona. In 2026, Route 66 turns 100 years old and there will be a lot of activities in the coming years leading up to this centennial celebration. The Mother Road is seeing a renewal of visitors now that travel restrictions, including international ones, are being lifted. If you haven’t already, a road trip to get your kicks on Route 66 may be just what your soul is seeking.

Thank you for being a reader and follower of this blog. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to share our adventures with you. May ladybugs bless your journey!
